The longest time I've spent on a book. It took me sincere effort and dedication to absorb the authors vision. My physical copy of this book has been through some things across different cities. Of the contents of the book itself, I have no regrets spending this much time on it. It is thorough, modern and presents a comprehensive rundown of the formation of state and political machinery over centuries and millenias. In the process of getting to Denmark, we need three key structural elements - a strong state, a rule of law, and accountability. There is a lovely study of India as well, where he goes through the pitfall that befell us, and how we might recover. Overall, a good read on what makes political systems tick. I am happy I took upon the exercise of reading this book and even more so that I did not give up part way.
